The Author

Although this is my debut children's book, I’ve enjoyed writing since I wrote my first short story as a little girl. I grew up raising livestock on my family’s working farm in a small Missouri town, so it comes as no surprise that my strong passion for animals shines through in my writing.

After a long corporate career, I now devote my spare time to animal advocacy organizations such as the local zoo, where I help to inspire wildlife conservation. My amazing husband Ryan and I live in Indianapolis with our adorable four-legged roommates, Cordell and Piper.

The first time my husband Ryan and I saw Cordell, he was sleeping soundly (with his head turned completely upside down…as kittens often do while snoozing). We both let out an all too predictable but very deserving “ahhhhhhhhh” at the site of him. After spending just a few short minutes with him, there was no going back and we were putty in his paws! Thanks to the Humane Society, which invested time and resources into rescuing Cordell, we were given the opportunity to love and care for him as our newly adopted family member.

Although I’ve always been passionate about animal rights and have been fortunate to work with many animal advocacy organizations throughout the years, I wanted to have a greater impact. I wrote this book to show kids, through an exciting story about an adventurous kitty, that animals are precious gifts to be cherished. A portion of the proceeds from every book purchased, directly from this website, will go to the Humane Society.

Thank you for supporting such a worthy cause!
